Kings of Q*Bert Article

One of my favorite blogs to frequent is Bill Simmons' Grantland. The blog focuses mainly on sports, but also publishes stories on everything from video games to the Kardashians. A recent story on marathon gaming is definitely worth a read. It's a bit long, but interesting throughout.

Left 4 Dead 2/ Resident Evil 6 Crossover

Left 4 Dead 2 has been a fan favorite since it's release in November 2009 and we are soon to see new content for both it and Resident Evil 6, first released on consoles in 2012. Coinciding with Resident Evil's release on Steam will be a crossover project allowing for Left 4 Dead characters in Resident Evil, and Resident Evil characters in Left 4 Dead.

Personally, I am more excited for the latter, as I have never given the Resident Evil franchise any time. I do love me some Left 4 Dead 2, and will gladly accept new enemies to shoot at. I would imagine this news is sure to be welcome for fans of both franchises.

The Great Gatsby NES

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite novels. The characters have real substance, and the story is ripe with interesting symbolism. I must admit, I'm pretty excited for the upcoming summer blockbuster with DiCaprio as Gatsby himself. When perusing the internet looking for Gatsby related stuff I found something worthy of giddy, childlike excitement.

THE GREAT GATSBY NES VIDEO GAME.

Now, this is not an actual NES game, it is simply a flash game done in NES style. However it has been polished to a sheen, and is actually some serious fun. You do awesome things like avoiding butlers..

And throw hats at people dressed like Indians..

And best of all, stare right back into the eyes of the valley of the ashes..

The Great Gatsby NES is fantastic. If you have some extra time on your hands and have read the book I absolutely recommend playing it. Here is the link: http://greatgatsbygame.com/

The Joakim Mogren Interview

Renowned video game journalist Geoff Keighley conducted an interview last week on GTTV with the supposed developer of The Phantom Pain, Joakim Mogren.

The content of the interview was less than spectacular, with Mogren revealing nothing more than a few screen shots. However, what was interesting was the way Mogren was dressed, his faced covered in bandages, similar to the protagonist of The Phantom Pain.

GameTrailers
Rumors have been circulating that the face is actually CG, made on the Fox engine, developed by Kojima Productions. These are strengthened when Keighley notices the Fox engine logo on one of the screenshots in the trailer.

Also, keen observers may notice that the name Joakim can easily be rearranged to spell Kojima. Oh Hideo Kojima, forever trolling the gaming industry. We will hear more about The Phantom Pain at GDC later this month.

Getting Started

Why hello people reading my blog! Today marks a very exciting day, as this will be my first real foray into creating a coherent gaming blog. I have put some minimal effort into maintaining blogs in the past, however they did not receive my full love and care. This already marks new ground for me as some real effort has been put into designing the blog itself. Anyhow, I won't waste your time telling you about myself, as you can discover that information in the tab to the left. What I will do is tell you about what this blog is all about.

As you may have guessed, I really enjoy video games. However, I don't only enjoy playing them, I enjoy keeping up with the gaming industry in general. Because of this, the main goal of my blog will be to keep you informed on what is happening around the gaming community. Secondly, I hope to be able to inform my reader of various tips and tricks I have discovered to help you in having the best gaming experience possible.  Thirdly, I like to talk, so I will post reaction videos to games that I am playing and news that I am hearing, as well as written reviews for current games that I pick up. So, in review it goes....

1. News (Most Important)
2. Tips and Tricks (Pretty Important)
3. My hopefully coherent babble (I hope you guys like me)

I hope to make at least a couple of posts per week, starting this week, and I hope everyone enjoys the blog!
